Backstage & Change Room Requirements

To ensure the safety and wellbeing of all performers, the West Gippsland Dance Festival has introduced updated requirements for backstage and change room access.

Troupe Weekend

  • Only nominated teachers and helpers will be permitted in the backstage and change room areas.

  • All nominated persons must hold a current Working With Children Check (WWCC).

  • WWCC details must be submitted to the festival prior to the event so that passes can be prepared.

  • Passes must be collected at the check-in desk and worn at all times while in backstage/change room areas.

  • Teachers and troupe helpers are required to check in each day of Troupe Weekend.

Solos, Duos & Other Sections

  • All adults (18+) entering the backstage or change room areas must hold a current WWCC – this includes parents, helpers, teachers, and performers who are 18 years or older.

  • WWCCs will be checked once at the check-in desk, and a named pass will be issued. This pass must be worn visibly at all times when backstage or in the change rooms.

  • We reserve the right to spot check both passes and WWCC validity during the festival.

How to Apply for a WWCC

A WWCC is free for volunteers and can be applied for online through the Victorian Government website. Please allow time for your application to be processed before the festival.

We thank all families and helpers for supporting these important child safety measures.
